Marketing Analyst: Intern

We're looking for a “entrepreneurial” intern who is committed to making a serious and meaningful impact to our company’s future as part of our Marketing & Business Development team.  Working in our Toronto head office, the ideal candidate will have previous experience in market analysis at Internet or technology companies, service providers, consulting firms and/or industry-focused organizations. In addition, the ideal candidate will possess outstanding project management skills, and a positive team-focused attitude.

This position offers the excitement of working with an innovative online service that helps organizations build visibility and authority by connecting their experts with thousands of event organizers and media outlets around the world.  Our clients such as Deloitte, KPMG, Word of Mouth Marketing Association (WOMMA), Kelly Services, Baycrest Hospital and Constant Contact see Speakerfile as a better way to showcase the expertise and thought leadership of their executives and experts.  Speakerfile is a unique platform designed for organizations focused on content related to thought leadership. 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct online and database research on potential clients in key industries such as professional services, healthcare, information technology and publishing.  Develop list sources for direct marketing and sales programs.  Keep an updated list of target accounts.
  • Ensure data in our customer relationship management (Salesforce.com) system is clean, accurate and up to date.
  • Review, analyze and report on key customer interaction metrics with current customers on the Speakerfile network.
  • Assist with research activities on key trends and other information related to supporting the Speakerfile marketing department with development of inbound content.
  • Assist Speakerfile professional services staff to support key partner or client projects as required.
  • Assist with development of reports and presentations to brief senior management, investors and channel partners.

Qualifications

  • New grad with Bachelors Degree (Business, Economics or related major preferred), or equivalent work experience

Skills

Must haves for candidates to be considered for this role:

  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency with Microsoft Excel.  Experience with a CRM system such as Salesforce.com is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.  Ability to work under minimal supervision with a demonstrated ability to stay meet daily call targets and close sales with business customers.
  • Entrepreneurial, self-starter who has passion and pride in their work
  • Confidence in managing and prioritizing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced and quick-changing environment.
  • Detail-oriented. Strong research skills and ability to digest and understand large amounts of unstructured, often incomplete, information.
  • Strong working knowledge of Internet, social media and the technology space.
  • Hyper competitive disposition while still being a team player.
  • Strong desire to adapt, learn and be lead.  Used to doing what it takes to get the job done.
  • Ability to thrive and laugh under pressure
  • Tolerance to ambiguity
  • Sense of humor  ;-)

Compensation

  • Based on level of experience, compensation will be in the range of $2,750 to $3,500 per month.
  • Candidates will be eligible for performance bonuses
  • The position is for a period of 6 months and may be extended.  Based on performance, candidates may also be eligible for a full-time role with the company.
